Guwahati: Security forces swarmed the Digboi refinery on Thursday, August 13. Armed personnel launched a joint area domination and foot-patrol exercise to lock down the facility ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations. They mean business.
The CISF unit at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited refinery organized the operation alongside the 80th Field Regiment of the Army, 68 Battalion CRPF, 32 Battalion Assam Police Battalion, and local police. Seventy personnel took to the streets to secure the perimeter.
The contingent included 27 CISF members, 12 soldiers from the 80th Field Regiment, 12 from the 32 Battalion APBN, 10 from the 68 Battalion CRPF, and four local police officers. CISF Deputy Commandant Devendra Pratap Singh led the task force. The goal was simple. They aimed to strengthen security and create deterrence against anti-social elements and potential threats.
The team utilized a tracker dog to conduct anti-sabotage checks. Agencies worked to tighten their coordination and ensure operational preparedness. "The exercise was aimed at enhancing coordination among security and law enforcement agencies, strengthening area domination, intensifying security arrangements and improving operational preparedness for the protection of the refinery and surrounding areas." The patrols kept the focus on the refinery grounds and the immediate vicinity.
