Cachar Police Seize Heroin Hidden in Auto-Rickshaw

Guwahati: Cachar Police pulled over an auto-rickshaw in Dholai on Monday, July 20, uncovering a stash of heroin. The bust occurred at 5:30 p.m. right in front of the Dholai Police Station. Officers acted on a tip while the vehicle headed from Bhaga Bazar toward Silchar.

Authorities identified the driver as 27-year-old Sebul Hussain Barbhuiya, a resident of Shamacharanpur Gram Panchayat. A routine search revealed nothing, but a second look at the driver's seat changed the outcome. Officers pried open a hidden compartment to find four soap cases packed with narcotics.

The drugs are valued at several lakh rupees on the street. Police currently hold Barbhuiya at the Dholai Police Station to track the supply chain. "The seizure comes amid intensified anti-narcotics operations across the Barak Valley," officials noted regarding the spike in local drug activity. Investigators are now checking if this shipment links to a larger trafficking network.
