Kohima: The footpath along Nyamo Road in Dimapur is falling apart. Broken tiles, jagged concrete, and exposed reinforcement bars now litter the walkway. It is a nightmare for pedestrians. The path poses a major threat to the elderly and the visually impaired.

Nightfall makes the situation worse. Inadequate street lighting hides the craters and metal rods. A frequent user said, "walking along the stretch at night as risky, citing poor visibility and the increased likelihood of falling."

Officials have ignored repeated warnings. The neglect continues to worsen. Taxpayers now want to know which department is responsible for this mess. If an accident happens, authorities will face serious legal questions regarding compensation and public safety. The city must inspect the road, assign maintenance duties, and fix the lights immediately.
