Kohima: Dangerous roads plague Dimapur. Neglected drains and broken footpaths threaten anyone on foot. Pedestrians frequently fall through missing or shifted concrete slabs. These hazards now span Nyamo Lotha road, Tajen Ao road, Kalibari, Notun Bosti, the Clock Tower area, and Battacharali.
Weeds hide open pits. Stagnant water and heavy dirt buildup block the drainage channels. Walkers must step into active traffic to avoid these traps. Elderly residents face the highest risk during low-light hours. One passerby told the Nagaland Post: "It is not safe to walk at the side of the road. The pavement cannot be used because of these reasons."
Locals demand action. They want officials to clear the weeds and fix the covers. Regular maintenance is needed to prevent more accidents. Authorities must act before someone gets seriously hurt.
