Kohima: Three major Dimapur organizations are calling on the Nagaland government to break ground on a stalled bypass road project. The Naga Council Dimapur, the Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen Federation, and the GB Union Dimapur Sadar issued a joint appeal on September 24. They want the road built from New Check-field Gate near Amar Flour Mill to Bible House near the New Dhansari Bridge in Walford.
The proposed route cuts across the railway tracks, Veterinary Colony, and Burma Camp. It links two key city terminals. On September 24, representatives met with the Deputy Commissioner and the Revenue Officer in Dimapur. They pledged full support to clear any hurdles during construction. The groups noted the project is a long cherished dream of the NCD.
Official records show the state already paid compensation for the entire surveyed and demarcated land. This means no land disputes should block the work. Now, the organizations want the Directorate of Land Records and Survey in Dimapur to release the official report on alignment and pillar markings. They need this data without any further delay to start work before project funds expire.
The groups asked local communities to support the effort. They say the new route is the best way to unclog Dimapur city traffic.

NCD vice president M. Berimong Yimkhiung and general secretary LK Peter Anal led the charge during the meeting with district officials. They confirmed the session took place on Thursday.
