Bayern Munich Midfielder Musiala Faces Health Scare

Shillong: Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala may miss the start of the season. He collapsed during two separate friendly matches after suffering a neurological issue. The 23-year-old Germany international went down shortly after entering the pitch against Heidenheim on Tuesday. He also suffered a similar incident three days prior against Leipzig. He left the field for treatment during both games.

Musiala confirmed his diagnosis in an Instagram post on Tuesday night. He described the events as brief, temporary, and easily treatable absence seizures linked to a neurological dysfunction. Despite the scare, the midfielder remains positive about his future. He stated, "I am receiving excellent medical care for this and am very optimistic." He also noted that he intends to continue his football career and everyday life.

Bayern Munich has remained largely quiet regarding the player's status. The club did not respond to requests for comment from the Associated Press. Board member Max Eberl initially declined to give details before the player released his statement. Eberl compared the situation to the collapse of Christian Eriksen, noting how football fans show solidarity during such events. He said, "We knew and know about it, but Jamal will get in touch."

The club has not confirmed if Musiala will be available for the German Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund this Saturday. The team also faces Stuttgart for the Bundesliga title defense the following weekend. Agency reports suggest his career is not in jeopardy, but his immediate availability remains unknown. Musiala previously recovered from a broken leg suffered at the Club World Cup last July, returning in January to tally three goals and five assists in 15 Bundesliga matches.
