Shillong: St. Edmund’s College celebrated its academic winners on Wednesday in Shillong. The school held its annual Felicitation of Academic Toppers 2026. The college grabbed nine of the 18 total O Grade positions awarded by the university for the first National Education Policy batch. It is a massive sweep.
Padma Shri Patricia Mukhim, editor of The Shillong Times, served as the chief guest for the day. She handed out College Memorial Awards to the best students. Principal Br. Sunil Britto also handed out Faculty Research Excellence Awards to 24 teachers. He wants more research done on campus.
Mukhim and the principal launched VERITAS, the school's first research journal. The college also opened new research grants for students. These grants aim to grow a research-heavy culture. During her speech, Mukhim pushed the students to build a better world. She said, "congratulated the achievers and encouraged them to use their education to create a meaningful impact on society and the environment."
