Shillong: Voice of the People Party candidate Batskhem Myrboh is centering his Shillong Lok Sabha by-election campaign on education. He claims the state’s current system is substandard and threatens its long-term health. He wants a shift toward scientific teaching methods and safer schools.
Myrboh intends to take state grievances directly to the Centre if he wins. He views the role of an MP as a bridge between local needs and national policy. He wants to ensure families do not buckle under the financial weight of schooling. "Education is something that shapes a society, and if we fail the youth by not providing good education, then we are ruining the future of the youth and even the future of the state," Myrboh said.
The candidate plans to stick to his party's established platform throughout the race. He insists these are not just campaign talking points. "These are the issues that the party has taken up, and therefore these issues will continually be pursued," he noted. He considers this advocacy a core constitutional duty for any representative in the capital.
