Guwahati: The Lekhapani Battalion of the Assam Rifles teamed up with civil administration to host the Independence Cup 2026 at Hasak village in Tinsukia district. The tournament kicked off August 15. The event centered on the theme: "No to Drugs, Yes to Football." It drew sixteen local football clubs from nearby villages.
Organizers sought to build discipline and boost ties between security forces and the community. The Assam Rifles handled security and logistics. Local interest stayed high throughout the day. The tournament aimed to keep kids off drugs through hard work and healthy competition.
CDO Football Club took home the trophy. Troops celebrated the players for their teamwork and spirit. Every participating team received recognition for their effort during the event.
