Imphal: A 24-member Assam Rifles Pipe Band took the stage at Imphal's historic Kangla West Gate on Tuesday, August 11. More than 1,050 spectators watched the show. The group played 15 patriotic songs, including Vande Mataram, Ye Watan, and Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja. The event began and ended with Vande Mataram.

Crowds filled the venue. Students, police, traders from Ima Market, and local families looked on as the band marched. Children waved the Tricolour. Spectators lit up the night with mobile phone flashlights once darkness fell. The performance earned loud applause for its precision.

Dignitaries attended the event, including Manipur Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh and DGP Mukesh Kumar Singh. Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Major General Gaurav Sharma, Brigadier Pratyush Kumar, and the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles' Kangla Warriors were also there. The 33 Assam Rifles organized the display to boost national pride.

Colonel Radha Krishna, Commandant of the 33 Assam Rifles, said, "The idea is to ensure that people can celebrate the Independence Day with josh, patriotism and enthusiasm." The unit plans to host celebrations at three locations this year to reach a wider audience.

The band performs next at Manipur University on Wednesday. They will close out the series with a final show on the evening of August 15.
