Guwahati: Basistha Police arrested three men for a series of house break-ins across Guwahati. The investigation centered on two specific residential robberies in AG Colony, Beharbari, and Banipath, Bhetapara. Burglars forced open doors to escape with Rs 4.5 lakh in cash, a television, a laptop, a water pump, and LPG cylinders.

Officers identified the suspects as Manoj Baruah from Sivasagar, Nikhil Deka from Nalbari, and Mridul Basumatary, also known as Thangbai, from Basistha. Police tracked them down using technical and field evidence. They recovered Rs 75,000 in cash, one television, one laptop, an e-rickshaw, and a kit of specialized tools. The loot is currently held as evidence.

Police officials said preliminary investigation indicates that the arrested trio may have been involved in several other theft cases across Guwahati, suggesting the existence of a wider criminal network. The suspects now sit in police custody following a court appearance. Investigators hope the interrogation will crack open deeper leads. The hunt for additional associates continues.
