Guwahati: Assam brings its state-level World Tourism Day celebration to the Dima Hasao district for the first time. Umrangso will host the event on September 27. Officials hope to show off the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage to boost its profile as a major destination. The busy schedule runs all day.
Activities include a plantation drive at the local Golf Course, a cleanliness campaign, and a gravel discussion. Attendees will participate in an open session followed by a cultural evening. Speakers plan to tackle specific themes, including "Digital Agenda & Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism" and "Hill Tourism in Assam – Way Forward."
Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog arrives as the chief guest. Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa will join her as the guest of honour. Other notable attendees include Dima Hasao MLA Rupali Langthasa and Commissioner and Secretary of the Tourism, Home and Political Department Diganta Baruah. These leaders and various tourism stakeholders will gather to discuss the future of the district's hills and diverse heritage.
