Assam Chief Minister Names Five Must-See Tourist Spots

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wants you to visit his state. He outlined five top destinations highlighting local religious history and natural wildlife. He spoke by phone to share his curated list of must-see spots.

First, stop at the Kamakhya Temple. It stands as one of the state's most important religious sites. Next, head to Kaziranga National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts a famous population of one-horned rhinoceroses and diverse wildlife.

Sarma also picked Umrangso Lake in the Dima Hasao district. He claims the scenic beauty of the lake sticks with travelers long after they leave. The fourth and fifth recommendations include Manas National Park, which shares a transboundary ecosystem with Bhutan. Wildlife moves freely across the India-Bhutan border. "Rhinos and tigers don't need a visa to go anywhere," Sarma said.

Manas holds UNESCO World Heritage status for its biodiversity. Sarma expects tourists to enjoy the natural attractions and the local hospitality. He promised to meet guests who visit these spots to explore the region together.
