Kohima: Nature SBI Foundation partnered with Assam Rifles to host a health awareness camp at Good Shepherd High School in Kiphire on July 28. The program addressed both communicable and non-communicable diseases. It was a focused push for community wellness.

Assistant Commandant Dr. Pritam Das of the Assam Rifles led the session. He defined health beyond the simple absence of illness. "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease," Das said.

Das explained that communicable diseases move through contaminated water, food, air, insects, and direct contact. Non-communicable issues stem from poor diet, genetics, inactivity, and bad habits. He told the crowd to prioritize fresh food, clean water, and strict hygiene to dodge hypertension and other lifestyle conditions. He also pushed for more exercise and less salt.

A staff nurse from the Nature SBI Foundation followed up with a talk on hygiene. She stressed the importance of balanced nutrition and washing hands before meals or after using the toilet. Students heard advice on getting enough sleep, staying active, and finishing all vaccinations on time. She urged the youth to seek help when sick and pass these healthy habits along to their families.
