Assam Opens Emergency Channels for Residents Trapped in Nepal Floods

Guwahati: The Assam government is moving to rescue state residents caught in Nepal. Severe flooding has paralyzed parts of the country and left travelers stranded. The administration in New Delhi wants them home.

Assam Bhawan issued a public notice today to start coordination efforts. They have opened three dedicated telephone lines for immediate help: 011-23010299, 011-23010298, and 011-2687111. Use these numbers now.

Affected citizens can also reach out to two specific officials for direct assistance. Arunam Medhi, an ACS officer at Assam Bhawan, is available at +91-9108091591. Officials confirmed the need for quick action: "The Assam Government has urged affected residents to use the designated contact channels for emergency support and coordination with the authorities."

The state has now activated a 24/7 control room at Assam Bhawan to handle the influx of distress calls. Officials are also coordinating with families of the stranded to streamline the flow of information.

The situation in Nepal remains dire. Local reports indicate the death toll has surged to 362, with more than 800 people still missing. The Nepal Army has scrambled 14 helicopters and mobilized disaster response teams, alongside police and armed forces, to scour flood-stricken areas like Rasuwa for survivors.
