Guwahati: Eight Assam residents stranded by flash floods in Nepal are safe. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the rescue on Sunday, August 30. The group includes Pankaj Verma, Samar Bezbaruah, Gautam Das, Gopal Debnath, Soneswar Narzary, Sarbison Marak, Silva Marak, and Elphison Sangma.
The survivors head home Monday. Sarma spoke with the group after the extraction. He publicly thanked Varun Choudhary of CG Corp for providing timely assistance during the dangerous operation. "All eight are safe and will return home tomorrow," Sarma said.
Sarma previously reported 12 state residents missing on August 28. Officials are still working to track down the remaining individuals who vanished during the disaster. The search for the unaccounted residents continues.
