Guwahati: Assam has become the first state in India to generate a Fund Transfer Order under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), or VBG-RAM-G. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the milestone on July 15. The state completed all mandatory benchmarks for the programme, including agency and Drawing and Disbursing Officer mapping. It also finished master data sharing with the National Informatics Centre-Department of Rural Development and completed the Digital Signature Certificate stage. "Pleased to share that Assam has become the first state in India to generate a Fund Transfer Order under VBG-RAM-G. This means we have successfully met all the required benchmarks, ensuring the timely release of wages to every beneficiary," the Chief Minister posted on X.
Assam leads all other states and Union Territories on the national implementation dashboard. While others remain in preliminary phases, only Assam has successfully processed a wage-related order. This digital framework aims to streamline payments for rural employment and livelihood schemes.
The Chief Minister also addressed the state's workforce strategy on World Youth Skills Day. Assam is building a skilled talent pool through training in over 1,700 schools and at the Assam Skill University. These initiatives connect students with industry-linked programmes to prepare them for a global economy. Sarma remains focused on creating employment through these long-term educational investments.
Guwahati residents have a reason to celebrate. The government extended restaurant operating hours until 3:30 AM on July 15, 16, 19, and 20. This allows fans to watch FIFA World Cup semi-finals and final matches. Sarma authorised district officials to offer similar extensions elsewhere if local Restaurant Owners Associations request them. The Chief Minister encouraged all football fans to enjoy the matches responsibly.
