Assam Launches Massive Rs 17,235 Crore Infrastructure Overhaul

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a Rs 17,235 crore infrastructure expansion on Saturday, July 18. This massive spending plan targets statewide road connectivity. It is a big move. The government aims to cut travel times and link key locations.

Sarma took to X to share the news. He wrote, "With a planned investment of Rs 17,235 crore, we are driving one of the most ambitious connectivity overhauls in Assam till date." The initiative represents a major gear shift in regional development.

The package includes several high-stakes projects. Crews will begin four-laning the stretch between Baihata Chariali and Mission Chariali. Engineers plan to build the Guwahati Airport to Jalukbari Elevated Corridor. A new bridge will also span the Brahmaputra River to join Morigaon and Darrang. This link provides a much-needed connection between north and south Assam.

The state government expects these improvements to boost the local economy. Officials stated the push supports mobility and builds more efficient transport links. The goal is long-term growth.
