Assam Chief Minister Meets Jal Shakti Minister to Advance Water Projects

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil in New Delhi this week. They talked about water security and state infrastructure. The two leaders focused on the Jal Jeevan Mission in Assam, known as JJM-Assam. They want to make the program stronger.

Sarma also reviewed the Silsako Beel rejuvenation project in Guwahati. This urban wetland work costs Rs 237 crore. The Ministry of Jal Shakti provides major funding for the job. Work is moving forward. The state targets completion for next year to restore the area's water retention capacity.

Sarma said he expressed hope for "continued collaboration with the Union Ministry for the rejuvenation of urban water bodies and wetlands across Assam." The Chief Minister plans to keep this partnership going to fix wetlands throughout the state.
