Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma committed Rs 17,235 crore to a statewide infrastructure push. He revealed the plan on Saturday, July 18. This massive spending targets road and bridge networks. The state wants faster travel and better links between key regions.

The package covers three major projects. Workers will build a four lane road between Baihata Chariali and Mission Chariali. Engineers will also construct the Guwahati Airport to Jalukbari Elevated Corridor. A new bridge over the Brahmaputra will eventually connect Morigaon and Darrang. This crossing will bridge north and south Assam.

Sarma spoke on the scale of the plan. "With a planned investment of Rs 17,235 crore, we are driving one of the most ambitious connectivity overhauls in Assam till date," he said. The government expects these upgrades to drive regional economic growth. Officials stated the push will link distant parts of the state more efficiently.
