Guwahati: Assam Forest Department workers plucked a rare Himalayan Mole from the churning currents of the Manas River. The small mammal, known scientifically as Euroscaptor micrurus, faced death in the heavy water. It survived. Staffers pulled the creature to safety before releasing it back into its natural home within Manas National Park.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news on X. He praised the frontline personnel for their swift, decisive action. The rescue operation highlights the ongoing work to protect wildlife in the region. Sarma noted that the mission shows the state remains dedicated to protecting every species within its forests. The Chief Minister stated, "The rescue reflects the state's unwavering commitment to conserving wildlife and protecting every species that inhabits Assam's forests."
