Guwahati: Assamese dancer Rodali Bora kicked off the Nritya Sangam event at London's Nehru Centre on July 24. She opened with Krishna Vandana, introducing the international crowd to the Sattriya tradition rooted in the centuries-old Sattras. The auditorium reached full capacity as British locals and diaspora members packed the venue to watch.

Kathak master Meghranjani Medhi took the floor next. Medhi, a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, performed alongside Bora to highlight the link between India's major classical dance styles. The show then shifted gears toward energy and rhythm.

The Luitporia Nasoni Group brought Assam to life with vibrant folk dances. Musicians and dancers filled the stage with high-octane routines. The crowd erupted for a moving tribute to Zubeen Garg. His influence on Assamese culture remains undeniable. Organizers noted, "The enthusiastic response from the audience transformed Nritya Sangam into more than just a cultural programme, it became a celebration of Assam’s identity and artistic heritage on an international stage."

The event succeeded by merging spiritual elegance with raw folk energy. It cemented a new foothold for Assamese art in the United Kingdom.
