Kohima: A delegation from the Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha arrived in Nagaland on July 25. Led by president Prafulla Barman, the group aimed to revamp the Kohima Sahitya Sabha and build a lasting literary partnership. The team visited the Nagaland State Museum, the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama, and the Kohima Cathedral.
Adela Moa, Director of Art and Culture, greeted the visitors at Hotel De Oriental Grand. A joint meeting at the Kohima Sahitya Sabha followed, where members swapped ideas and performed traditional cultural shows. The event highlighted the need for inter-state unity through the arts.
Speakers included former MLA Medokul Sophie, Nagaland Deputy Director of Art and Culture Teisovikuolie Therie, retired PWD Chief Engineer Bhupendra Ch. Sharma, retired Deputy Director of Cultural Affairs Chabin Rajkhowa, and Guwahati High Court advocate Dr. Khayam Uddin Ahmed. The proposed collaboration honors Bharat Ratna Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and the late Kumbha Angami.
The delegates praised the Nagaland government for their support. They specifically thanked Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, along with the home and art departments. Officials hope this move strengthens bonds between the neighbors. The department noted it "looks forward to strengthening people-to-people connect through literature, art and culture between the two neighboring states."
