Kohima: A delegation from the Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha arrived in Nagaland on July 25. Led by president Prafulla Barman, the team touched down to build a long-term literary partnership. They want to revamp the Kohima Sahitya Sabha. Their goal is clear.
Adela Moa, the Director of Art and Culture, welcomed the group at Hotel De Oriental Grand in Kohima. The visitors toured the Nagaland State Museum, the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama, and the Kohima Cathedral before gathering for a joint meeting.
Speakers emphasized the need for unity. Former MLA Medokul Sophie, Deputy Director of Art and Culture Teisovikuolie Therie, retired PWD Chief Engineer Bhupendra Ch. Sharma, retired Cultural Affairs official Chabin Rajkhowa, and Guwahati High Court Advocate Dr. Khayam Uddin Ahmed addressed the crowd. Cultural performances from both states filled the program.
The partners decided to honor two figures with this collaboration. They plan to dedicate the work in the name of Bharat Ratna Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and the late Kumbha Angami, father of former Nagaland Chief Secretary and minister Z. Obed.
The delegation expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality shown by the Nagaland government. They specifically thanked Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, the Art and Culture Department, and the Home Department for their help. The Nagaland Art and Culture Department stated, "The Art & Culture Department looks forward to strengthening people to people connect through literature, art and culture between the two neighbouring states."
