Kohima: A delegation from the Kamrup Metropolitan Zila Sahitya Sabha met Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio today at Sovima village in Chümoukedima. President Prafulla Barman led the group. They arrived to jumpstart the revival of the Kohima Sahitya Sabha. The visitors want to link Assam and Nagaland through shared literary roots.
Reverend Sahitya Charyya Padmanath Gohain Baruah started the Kohima Sahitya Sabha back in 1895 while working as a teacher in Kohima. This group served as the first office of the Assam Sahitya Sabha. It represents a long history of mutual respect between people in both states.
Dr. Rio backed the plan. He promised the state government will provide full support for the revival and development of the organization. He pledged to boost long-term friendships and cultural exchanges. The Chief Minister said, "The State Government would extend its full support for the revival and development of the Kohima Sahitya Sabha."
Teisovikuolie Therie of the Nagaland Art and Culture Department praised the meeting. He stated the visit serves as a move to deepen collaboration and honor regional history.
