Guwahati: The Assam Cancer Care Foundation served nearly 15 lakh patients in four years. The network operates 12 specialized facilities across the state. These centers provide consultations, diagnostic tests, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgeries. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared these figures after a board meeting Thursday night. The project aims to stop locals from traveling far for medical care.
Sarma said, "The scale of services delivered over the past four years was among the key outcomes discussed during the meeting." The current network results from a partnership between the Assam government and Tata Trusts. Officials now plan to add five more hospitals to the list. Sarma ordered construction to speed up for new facilities in Dhubri, Nalbari, Nagaon, Sivasagar, and Goalpara.
