Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sat down with South Korean Ambassador to India Lee Seong-ho in Guwahati on September 24. They talked business. The pair examined potential collaborations across several key sectors, specifically targeting advancements in semiconductors, the cosmetics trade, and the development of new technology parks.
Sarma leaned on his own experiences during a 2025 trip to Seoul. He noted how the nation blends industrial might with deep cultural roots. These talks also aimed to bridge the gap between Assam and South Korea through entertainment and the rising popularity of K-pop.
The Chief Minister took to social media to signal the importance of the visit. "It was a privilege to meet H.E. Mr. Lee Seong-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, who called on me today in Guwahati," Sarma wrote. This meeting marks a push by the state government to lure foreign investment and build stronger international ties.
