Arunachal Power Employee Dies After Electrocution Incident

Itanagar: A 57-year-old electrician died Sunday night after an electric shock threw him from a utility pole. Baramdeo Pandit was repairing a line fault at New Borguli in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district when the accident occurred at 9:18 pm. He suffered severe burns and head trauma from the fall. Medics at Bakin Pertin General Hospital in Pasighat pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival.

Pandit worked at the Mebo Power Sub-Station and managed the supply lines for villages including Seram, Kongkul, Namsing, Gadum, and Mer. He joined the department in June 1988 as a casual laborer and earned a promotion to Work-Charged electrician in November 2023. He lived alone at his posting far from his home in Vaishali, Bihar.

Junior Engineer Ajoy Pertin noted that Pandit provided 38 years of service to the state. He kept the power running across the Monggu Banggo area. Pertin described the loss of his colleague, stating, "He was punctual, dutiful, sincere and a genuinely noble human being."

Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng offered condolences to the family, including Pandit's wife and five children. Officials completed the post-mortem on Monday. They transported his remains to his native village in Bihar by Tuesday evening.
