Guwahati: Youth across the Mebo area of East Siang district have launched the Mebo Area Yameng Kebang, a platform built for regional welfare and peace. Members met on September 18 to finalize the group's structure after preliminary talks began at the ADC Conference Hall on August 16.
The organization elected Indu Yommin as president. They named Kalen Pertin general secretary. Bodong Yirang, Chief Advisor of the Adi Baane Kebang, chaired the meeting, which drew participation from Bogum Bokang Kebang President Nakmin Perme and social worker Gekong Pertin.
MAYK covers territory from Bodak to Mer and Sigar to Aohali. Leaders now hold the authority to build an Executive Body that balances representation between Mebo Banggo and Monggu Banggo. The president and secretary must draft formal bylaws for the group to be approved at a later General Body Conference.
Senior stakeholders urged the new leadership to prioritize collective service. During the session, Gekong Pertin offered a financial boost to the group. He donated ₹25,000 to the cause. Members closed the session by committing to regional progress, with Yirang telling them to "uphold unity, responsibility and collective service."
