Itanagar: A four-day training series in Boleng wrapped up on July 31. More than 240 workers from various sectors attended the sessions at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The initiative focused on the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project and better water management. It was a big push for public clarity.
Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu joined all four days of the event. He met with teachers, health staff, and government workers to discuss the project. Taggu told the crowd: "the importance of informed and transparent public participation in the proposed multipurpose project" cannot be overstated.
Resource experts provided deep technical briefings. District Planning Officer Tapik Komut and NHPC Group Senior Manager Tabom Taggu led the talks. They covered river basin management and the long-term benefits of the project. Assistant Engineer Tanom Tatak and District Medical Officer Dr. Johny Darang also joined the discussions.
Attendance remained steady throughout the week. The first session hosted 60 teachers, while a second group of 60 CDPOs and Anganwadi workers learned about community outreach. Another 50 medical staff, including ANMs and ASHAs, learned how to pass information to local families. The final session drew 70 department officials.
The teams used seven informational videos to teach the group. They also handed out booklets containing project facts and frequently asked questions. Officials hope the training builds a transparent partnership with the local community.
