Boleng Hosts Four-Day Water Management and SUMP Awareness Drive

Itanagar: A four-day awareness campaign on water management and the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project wrapped up Friday in Boleng. The sessions took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office from July 28 to July 31. Roughly 240 people attended the training. Participants included teachers, health workers, Anganwadi staff, and various government officials.

Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu sat in on every session. He pushed for sustainable practices and clear communication. He stated, "I stressed the need for sustainable water resource management and called for informed and transparent public participation in the implementation of SUMP."

The event broke down into specialized daily meetings. Teachers gathered on July 28 to learn how to share project facts in schools. July 29 focused on CDPOs and Anganwadi workers. Health staff like ANMs and ASHA workers attended the July 30 session. Government officers concluded the training on July 31.

District Planning Officer Tapik Komut served as a lead resource person. NHPC Group Senior Manager Tabom Taggu provided technical details on river basin management and project benefits. Assistant Engineer Tanom Tatak and District Medical Officer Dr. Johny Darang also contributed expertise. Attendees watched seven informational videos. They received booklets on project benefits and common questions to help them explain the work to local communities.
