Itanagar: A 29-year-old man disappeared in the Nyamjangchu River on Sunday, August 23. He went under while swimming near Namtsering village in the Lumla circle of Tawang district. The current was too strong. He was swept away instantly.

The victim is the son of Dr. Wangdi Lama, the former Tawang District Medical Officer. He could not be traced immediately after he went missing in the water. Local residents and personnel from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) launched a joint search and rescue mission. They are scouring the river and the surrounding banks.

The rescue operation is active. "Teams are continuing efforts to locate the missing man and recover him from the river," authorities stated. Searchers are working along various stretches of the river to find any trace of the man. Officials expect more details as the operation continues.
