Arunachal BJP Recruits Local Leaders to Reclaim Liromoba Seat

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh BJP leaders are moving to reclaim the Liromoba constituency. They inducted former student leader Ritum Tali and local singer Jeli Kayi Tamin. Events in Aalo and Kamba town formally welcomed the pair. Party officials, including vice-president Ashok Sangchoju and state secretary Joram Tat, attended the ceremonies.

The push follows a tough 2024 election loss. The NPP candidate Pesi Jilen took the seat with 7,206 votes. He beat BJP incumbent Nyamar Karbak by 1,698 votes. Karbak previously held the seat since 2019. He remains committed to the party platform despite the shift. Karbak stated, "I have given 12 years to the BJP, and it is not merely a political party for me—it is like my home."

Ritum Tali cited state and national development work as his reason for joining. He intends to push party principles at the local level. Some observers saw the move as a search for a future candidate, but Sangchoju dismissed this. He maintains the party follows strict internal processes for ticket selection. The goal is grassroots growth before the 2029 polls.
