Akhil Gogoi Rips Congress for Silence on Assam Flood Relief

Guwahati: Raijor Dal supporters swarmed the Betbari High School playground in Dimow yesterday. They demanded the government pay the 15,000 rupee flood relief fund to every family left off the current rolls. The party claims many victims were unfairly cut from the assistance program.

Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi took the stage to blast the opposition. He demanded to know why the Congress party refuses to pick a fight with the ruling BJP. "Why is Congress afraid to criticise BJP government?" he asked the crowd.

Gogoi called out specific Congress leaders for their lack of backbone. He named MP Gaurav Gogoi, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, and MLA Wazed Ali Choudhury. He expects the opposition to stop playing nice and start challenging the state on behalf of the people. The party wants a full review of the beneficiary list to ensure every flood-hit home gets paid.
