Akhil Gogoi Plans Hunger Strike Against Assam Government

Guwahati: Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi slammed regional political parties on Tuesday, September 15. He claims these groups have lost their edge. They stopped fighting for the public. Instead, they busy themselves with planting trees or donating blood while staying silent on government wrongdoing.

Gogoi highlighted a total lack of opposition in the state. He demands a return to the aggressive activism he practiced with the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti. "Now nobody protests or says a word. Nobody does a democratic protest. Nobody utters a word if the government does something wrong," Gogoi said.

He announced a formal protest scheduled for September 23. Before that date, he will launch a hunger strike directly in front of Janta Bhawan. He aims his fury at Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Gogoi wants answers about why flood victims remain without financial aid after losing their homes and livelihoods.

The Raijor Dal chief also demanded accountability for three government officials. He questioned why ministers Mayur Borgohain, Sushanta Borgohain, and Dharmeswar Konwar still hold their posts. He wants them removed or arrested immediately. Dismissing the political preoccupation with elections in Nagaon, Gogoi insisted his party will continue to stand with the people.
