Zunheboto Students Face New 6:30 PM Curfew Ahead of Final Exams

Kohima: The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union slapped a strict 6:30 PM curfew on all students within town limits. This order took effect November 3. It targets the weeks leading up to final examinations to keep streets clear and focus high. Students must be home or in their hostels by the cutoff time. No loitering at parks, commercial areas, or markets is allowed after dark.

The union demands students stick to a disciplined routine of revision and rest. ZRSU General Secretary Tonoka V Zhimomi said the move ensures students have time for study. He stated, "The curfew was intended to give students sufficient time for focused preparation and help them maintain a disciplined study routine ahead of their examinations."

Authorities plan to conduct regular checks to catch rule breakers. Any student caught roaming will be reported to their specific School Management Board for punishment. Parents and guardians must enforce the rule at home. Cooperation is expected from wardens and law enforcement alike. Medical emergencies and genuine crises are the only exceptions, provided the authorities receive prior notice. This mandate stays active until the final exams finish or until the union releases a new order.
