Kohima: Wokha officials hit Santsuo School on July 30 to warn students about digital predators. The event coincided with the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. Local agencies led the charge, including the District Administration, the Department of Social Welfare, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Sakhi-One Stop Centre, and Child Helpline Wokha.
The program operated under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Organizers adopted the global theme, Trapped Behind the Scam. They focused on how traffickers use web platforms to bait young people with fake promises. Nzanmongi, a legal case worker for Sakhi-OSC, took the floor to explain these tricks. She told students, "She stressed the importance of remaining informed, vigilant and cautious while engaging with people, particularly on digital platforms."
The session moved beyond theory. Experts taught the kids to spot specific warning signs of trafficking. They provided clear instructions on how to alert authorities immediately if something feels wrong. Organizers handed out contact details for helpline services, ensuring students know exactly where to call for help.
