Manipur Police Seize Weapons and Arrest Insurgents in Multi-Day Sweep

Imphal: Manipur Police hauled in three suspects and a stash of military-grade hardware over the last 28 hours. The busts occurred across multiple districts as authorities clamped down on insurgent activity and common crime. Officers also seized a massive shipment of illegal liquor in Senapati.

A joint team of Imphal East Police and security forces picked up Laimayum Naobi Devi, 37, in Thinungei on October 9. Police identified her as an active cadre for the RPF/PLA. Investigators claim she hid a hand grenade at her home in 2025 before handing it off to an unidentified contact near the RIMS main gate 15 days ago.

In Lamlong Thong, CDO/Imphal West officers caught two vehicle thieves in the act. Waquar Ahmad, 20, and FM. Baboi, 20, were trying to pry open a car at the AMFA Football Ground Complex. Police grabbed the pair and confiscated the tools used in the attempted heist.

Security forces also landed a major blow against the KCP (MFL). They arrested Pukhrambam Jackson Singh, 26, at Ngariyan Chingkhong. Singh led teams to a cache near the foothills of Nongmaijing Ching. The haul included an M16 rifle, a 40 mm launcher, a .32 pistol, a Chinese hand grenade, and 495 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition. The team also took two Baofeng wireless sets.

Police tracked a shipment of booze along National Highway 2. They raided a house near the Senapati Drop Gate and found a stockpile of beer, Old Monk, Iconiq White, Breezer, and McDowell’s products. The Manipur Police Control Room stated, "625 loaded vehicles along National Highway 37 and 269 along National Highway 2 carrying essential commodities were provided safe passage under security arrangements." Authorities are maintaining 111 checkpoints across the region to keep traffic moving.
