Kohima: Mokokchung officials marked the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons with a focus on digital danger. The District Child Protection Unit held an awareness event at Police Station-I. Experts warned that online scams and fake job offers are rising threats. The program ran under the theme Trapped Behind the Scam. Personnel from the Women Police Station, Child Welfare Committee, and Child Helpline attended the session.
District Child Protection Officer Samuel Kapu opened the floor for discussion. Resource person T Asula Imsong urged the community to stay sharp. She told the crowd, "Imsong stressed the need for greater public awareness about the increasing use of fake job offers, online scams and deceptive recruitment methods to exploit vulnerable individuals." ASI Limawati warned attendees that these false promises are often just gateways to exploitation.
The DCPU also launched its first educational exposure trip for children living at the Care and Support Children Home. These children visited Fazl Ali College to tour the botany laboratory, zoology museum, aviary, and digitised classrooms. They also toured the Horticulture Department Nursery and the State Agriculture Research Station at Yisemyong.
The trip aims to show these children new career paths and academic possibilities. Kapu thanked the various institutions for allowing the visits. He believes the experience helps boost confidence in kids under institutional care. Officials hope the outing motivates the group to pursue higher education and build a better future.
