Mokokchung Workshop Trains Educators in Traditional Craft Skills

Kohima: Seventy-five trainees and craft enthusiasts gathered at the Little Friends Montessori and Teachers Training Centre in Mokokchung on September 26. The one-day workshop taught traditional doll and basket making. Participants learned material selection, local techniques, and finishing skills to blend old wisdom with modern design.

Arenly Jamir led the session. Imnasenla Imchen, an assistant professor at Nagaland Bible College, opened the event with prayer. Other speakers included Arenlong of the Ao Students’ Conference and OKM president Mangyang. S Moa Walling spoke on the value of craft for self-reliance and cultural identity.

Lima Lemtur, an administrator at the institute, emphasized the importance of craft-based learning for children. He noted the school provides Montessori teacher training through Vidyasadi Delhi University, with classes held both online and offline. He stated: "The Administrator also highlighted the academic courses offered by the institution, informing the gathering that LFM & KTTI offers comprehensive courses in Montessori Teachers' Training under Vidyasadi Delhi University, India."

K Addson Riyang and Imlimenla served as the primary instructors for the hands-on training. The event received sponsorship from the Department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland. The institution thanked the department for backing efforts to promote tribal art and skill development.
