Kohima: The Wokha District Village Councils Chairmen Association swore in its new leadership team on October 16. The ceremony took place at the Wokha District VDBs and Chairmen Hall. T. Robin Lotha now leads the group as president. The association acts for 138 villages spread across seven administrative blocks in Wokha district.
Deputy Commissioner K. Mhathung Tsanglao attended the event as the special guest. He reported that the appointment and clearance of chairmen is finished in almost every village. Only a handful of cases remain pending. Tsanglao told the leaders to manage their duties with sincerity and fairness. They are expected to oversee local administration and run government programs.
A seminar regarding the specific roles of council members will follow soon. Tsanglao pushed for unity throughout the Lotha community. He asked the members to settle disputes through talk and mutual respect. The common language acts as a glue for the people. He noted, "United we can achieve unimaginable things for the community," while warning against internal fractures. He also tasked the association with mediating conflicts to keep the peace. Reverend Abemo Jungio, pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, led the group in a prayer to close the session.
