Assam Family Appeals for Help After Son Held Over Unpaid Hospital Bill

Guwahati: A Nagaon district family is desperate to bring their son home from a Hyderabad hospital. Jitu Bora remains stuck at KIMS, a private facility, for nearly two weeks. He cannot leave because of an unpaid medical bill totaling roughly 5 lakh rupees.

Jitu worked a private job in Hyderabad to support his ailing parents, Mahim and Kumkum Bora. He fell ill suddenly and his friends rushed him to the hospital. He spent 20 days there recovering from a complex surgery. His condition improved, but the costs piled up.

The family sent several thousand rupees to cover expenses. They borrowed what they could, yet it remains insufficient. Locals in Halowa Gaon, Puranigudam, chipped in to help, but the funds fell short. The family now looks to the state government for a way out. They sent an emotional plea to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Family members urged the leader to "take steps to secure Jitu's release from the hospital and facilitate his return to Assam."
