Shillong: West Khasi Hills marked International Youth Day on Wednesday. Officials gathered at the Market Complex Hall in New Nongstoin to push local students toward leadership roles. The event, themed Youth Advancing Multilateralism Through Technology and Partnerships, saw participation from teachers and students across the region.

Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak headlined the program, joined by District Sports Officer B Syiem, Meghalaya Football Association Vice President Dr. Lumbor Mawsor, and District Social Welfare Officer D Pakyntein. Nayak challenged the crowd to reach higher. She urged students to pursue careers in the Indian Administrative Service and the Meghalaya Civil Service. High stakes. The district needs fresh blood in its top ranks.

Nayak told the students, "Young people should not allow their backgrounds or circumstances to limit their ambitions." She argued that stronger youth presence in politics and administration will better serve the district's future potential. The Office of the District Sports Officer organized the event to help students sharpen their skills and grow the confidence needed to compete on a larger stage.
