Shillong: Construction on the IT Park in Doldegre is moving fast. The project sits at 82 percent completion, with a handover date set for November 2026. This facility represents a 126 crore investment under the PM-DevINE scheme. It targets small, medium, and large companies seeking a foothold in the Garo Hills.
Badri Rai and Company secured the contract in June 2025. They originally faced a 36-month deadline, which would have pushed completion to 2028. Instead, the firm pushed to finish the work in half that time. Recent regional unrest delayed progress, but crews kept grinding. "We lost at least 4 months due to labour troubles. However, once that was cleared up, we have been working round the clock to fulfill our promise. We are currently on track," said site engineer Vikash Lahun.
The four-storey building provides 10,000 square metres of customizable space. It includes parking, central air-conditioning, and greenery. Locals make up 30 percent of the construction crew. The park neighbors the new Medical College, which developers hope will drive future interest. Transport remains a hurdle, however. The five-km access road from NH-217 is in rough shape, turning the trip into a 20-minute slog. New road work connecting the Medical College to Araimile is underway, but travelers on the Tura-Dalu route face continued headaches until officials approve better connecting infrastructure.
