Tripura-born Artist Radha Binod Sharma Named Ambassador for The Art of Elysium

Agartala: Internationally celebrated artist Radha Binod Sharma has achieved a new milestone by joining the 2026 The People's Artist campaign. As part of this honor, he has been appointed as an ambassador for The Art of Elysium, a prominent non-profit arts organization presented by actor Johnny Depp.

In his new role, Sharma will support the organization’s mission to provide creative initiatives for children's hospitals, elder-care homes, special-needs schools, and homeless communities. The charity emphasizes the philosophy that "Art Heals," encouraging individuals to use their creative talents to foster positive social change and build a more connected world.

Born in Kamalpur, Tripura, Sharma has cultivated an artistic career spanning more than 30 years. His professional journey gained momentum in the early 1990s with the Kanoria Studio Fellowship and a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation in Canada. Following a prestigious residency at London’s Delfina Studio in 1994, he established the United Kingdom as his base. His work has since reached global audiences through exhibitions and auctions at major houses such as Sotheby’s, Roseberys, and Osian’s.

Beyond his studio practice, Sharma founded the India-UK Arts and Media Foundation in 2009 to promote cultural exchange. His contributions to art and mentorship were formally recognized in 2025 with the London Award of Excellence at the House of Lords. His latest appointment is being celebrated as a significant moment of pride for Tripura, reflecting the rising international profile of artists from the state.
