New Kokrajhar Education Project Targets Foundational Learning

Guwahati: Project BUNIYAAD hit the ground in Kokrajhar, Assam, today. This initiative aims to fix foundational learning gaps across 30 government schools. Officials launched the program at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall. It runs on support from the Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development, or NEAID, and the Dr. KR. Shroff Foundation.

District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suprava Ray, and Biju Basumatary from Samagra Shiksha Assam attended the start. FLN Consultant Sangeeta Kissan, four Block Elementary Education Officers, and 21 Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators joined them. The program focuses on data-driven interventions. Chakravarty emphasized the need for new teaching styles.

"Strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy requires innovative teaching methods and data-driven interventions," Chakravarty said. He wants the project to hit schools in six Vibrant Villages and other marginalized areas first. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, the NIPUN Bharat Mission, Gunotsav, and the Performance Grading Index.
