Guwahati: The Assam government picked ACS officer Abhijit Sinha to lead the Assam Textbook Production and Publication Corporation. The state Personnel Department confirmed the move on August 12. Sinha brings significant experience to the role as a 1997-batch officer currently serving as Additional Secretary for the Women and Child Development Department.

The corporation lacked a permanent boss since July 31. This appointment fills that vacancy. The order came directly from the Department of Personnel in the interest of public service.

Sinha keeps his other major commitment. He remains the Secretary to the One-Man Inquiry Commission led by former Gauhati High Court judge Justice (Retd.) Hirendra Nath Sarma. That commission investigates the November 29, 2025, incident at the Bodoland Territorial Council Secretariat in Kokrajhar. As the official notification stated, "Sinha, an ACS officer of the 1997 batch and Additional Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Women and Child Development Department, has been given the additional charge of Managing Director of the corporation."
