Guwahati: The Assam government kicks off its Nijut Moina scheme payments on October 12. Cash hits accounts to help students stay in school. The state set a minimum ten-month window for the aid. It covers both secondary and higher education tracks.
A massive group of 2,48,263 students under the Higher Education Department qualifies for the money. Another 1,89,048 students in secondary education will also collect funds. Officials claim the program serves as a, "financial support to students and encouraging continued education."
Payout amounts vary by grade level. Undergraduates get 1,250 rupees each month. Students pursuing postgraduate degrees or B.Ed. programs receive 2,500 rupees monthly. Those in Classes XI and XII take home 800 rupees every month. The payments run for at least 10 months starting this October.
