Agartala: Kalyanpur police pulled a decomposed body from a pond in the Bagan Bazar Tea Garden on Monday morning. The victim, 47-year-old Sanjit Tanti, had been missing for five days. Family members and neighbors identified the man as the son of Sachindra Tanti.

Residents spotted the remains floating early in the day. They contacted the Kalyanpur Police Station immediately. Officers arrived to retrieve the body from the water. Officials state the man had been submerged for several days.

The family and locals blame chronic drug addiction for Tanti’s erratic lifestyle. They believe his substance abuse issues damaged his personal life over a long period. Many in the tea garden remain shaken by the discovery.

Police sent the body for a post-mortem exam. This will determine the cause of death. Officials have filed an unnatural death case. They are now questioning witnesses to uncover the truth. Investigators confirmed they are looking at all leads, including potential foul play. As one official noted, "The exact circumstances leading to the death will become clearer after the post-mortem report is received."
