Agartala: Tripura BJP president Abhishek Debroy wants a united front. He is pushing party members to bury internal feuds before the village committee and urban local body elections. Debroy laid out his strategy at a Bishalgarh Town Hall event on July 24. He wants a blend of young blood and veteran wisdom. He urged leaders to connect with 18-plus first-time voters while keeping senior members active in every booth.
Debroy’s message was firm. He warned against factionalism and promised he would not take sides. "I have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the state unit for the next three years. If we want to strengthen the organisation, leaders and karyakartas must set aside their differences," he stated. He insisted that organizational shuffles are not slights. He pointed to his own past as a former Gomati district president to prove that new roles are part of party growth. He dismissed claims that former Yuva Morcha president Sushanta Deb was sidelined.
The event drew a crowd of district office-bearers, panchayat representatives, and municipal leaders. Attendees included MLAs Sushanta Deb and Antara Sarkar Deb, state secretary Nabadal Banik, and district president Biplab Chakraborty. Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta and former MLA Birendra Kishore Debbarma also sat in. Earlier, a motorcycle rally escorted Debroy from Gokulnagar to the Kasbeswari temple. He later paid respects to a statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Discipline remains a top priority. Debroy ordered workers to maintain clean records, specifically warning that misconduct toward women will result in swift action. State vice-president Tapas Bhattacharjee echoed these sentiments, reminding the party to stay vigilant as they aim for a developed India by 2047. Debroy closed the day with private meetings for district, mandal, and morcha committees to finalize the 2028 election roadmap.
